About

Hi I’m Javi,

I write bold queer narratives where reality and imagination blur, where folks like me can exist completely.

My work explores gender, race, diaspora, family, and otherworldly bffs.

My play Luciérnagas was a semi-finalist for the 2019 New Dramatists Princess Grace Award, and is currently in production with the National Queer Theater at the 14th St Y (tickets here).

Watch a virtual reading of my play Happy Birthday Angel Dearest, co-presented by ATB and The Parsnip Ship here.

I have collaborated and produced work with MCC Theater, National Queer Theater, 14th St Y, Artists’ Theater of Boston, and The Parsnip Ship, where I am an inaugural member of the Radio Roots Writers Group.

You can check out my work on New Play Exchange.

As an Impact Producer, I create and implement audience engagement strategies for award winning documentaries.

I’ve worked with: Philly D.A. (Independent Lens), Disclosure (Peabody Award nominee, Netflix), Trans in Trumpland (Topic), Bedlam (duPont-Columbia Award winner, Independent Lens), and Roll Red Roll (Peabody Award nominee, Netflix).

I’m excited to collaborate on media that moves culture forward and calls us in to learn more about one other.
